Description

1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C2 Coupe – 4-Speed Manual

Few American sports cars have achieved the legendary status of the 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C2. Built between 1963 and 1967, the second-generation Corvette is widely regarded as one of the finest-looking American sports cars ever produced. The 1965 model was also a landmark year, introducing four-wheel disc brakes as standard, making it one of the most advanced performance cars of its day.

Finished in Ermine White with a light tan interior, this is a very honest, well-presented example that has clearly been cared for throughout its life. Equipped with the desirable 4-speed manual gearbox, it delivers the classic V8 driving experience that has made the C2 Stingray one of the most sought-after American classics on the market.

The bodywork is straight, with excellent panel fit throughout, while the front and rear chrome bumpers, together with the rest of the brightwork, are in excellent condition and really complement the car's timeless styling. The paintwork remains in good overall condition. It is not a freshly restored concours finish and does show some age-related wear, but it presents extremely well and is exactly what you would hope to find on an honest, usable classic.

Inside, the light tan interior presents almost like new. The seats, door cards and dashboard are exceptionally clean and tidy, while the new carpets have been correctly fitted and finish the cabin beautifully. It is a wonderfully inviting place to sit and perfectly captures the feel of a mid-1960s Corvette.

Under the bonnet is a clean and tidy V8 engine bay that has benefitted from sensible maintenance and sympathetic upgrades over the years. These include an updated air conditioning system, electronic ignition, upgraded ignition leads, aluminium intake manifold, chrome air cleaner, modern alternator and brake servo. The engine bay is clean, functional and well presented without appearing over-restored.

The underside is equally impressive. The chassis is clean, straight and rust-free, with no evidence of accident damage or structural repairs. Numerous components have been renewed over the years, including parts of the suspension, steering, braking system, exhaust, together with newer brake and fuel lines. It is not concours detailed underneath, but it is exceptionally clean and tidy overall, reflecting a car that has been properly maintained rather than simply prepared for sale.

Overall, this is simply a good, honest, clean and tidy C2 Stingray. It isn't presented as a museum piece, but rather as a beautifully maintained example that can be driven, enjoyed and shown with pride. Cars like this strike the perfect balance between originality, usability and investment potential, making them some of the most desirable American classics available today.

VIN Number and Tag Verification

The VIN and body tag have both been checked and are consistent with a genuine 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C2 Coupe built at the St. Louis assembly plant.

VIN: 194375S109448

The VIN breaks down as follows:

1 – Chevrolet Division
9 – Corvette model series
4 – V8-powered vehicle
37 – Two-door Corvette Coupe
5 – 1965 model year
S – St. Louis, Missouri assembly plant
109448 – Individual production sequence number

The 1965 Corvette production sequence began at 100001, meaning this car was approximately the 9,448th Corvette produced for the 1965 model year. The VIN format falls correctly within the accepted 1965 Corvette production range.

Body Tag Verification

The body tag reads:

STYLE: 65 437
BODY: S1548
TRIM: 421AA
PAINT: 900CC

Style Code: 65 437
65 confirms the 1965 model year.
437 identifies the body as a Corvette Coupe.

This corresponds correctly with the coupe designation shown in the VIN.

Body Number: S1548
S indicates a body produced through the St. Louis body operation.
1548 is the body production or assembly sequence number.

This body number is separate from the vehicle's VIN production sequence and was used internally during body manufacture and assembly.

Trim Code: 421AA
421 identifies the factory interior as Saddle.
The car therefore left the factory with the same general light tan or Saddle-coloured interior combination it carries today.
The additional AA characters are internal production or trim-processing codes and do not alter the main Saddle interior identification.

The interior is now exceptionally clean and tidy, with new carpets correctly fitted to the car.

Paint Code: 900CC
900 is the 1965 Corvette paint designation associated with Ermine White.
The additional CC characters are production-related paint coding.
This confirms the car was originally finished in Ermine White, matching its present exterior colour.
Verified Factory Identity

The available identification numbers confirm the following:

Genuine 1965 Chevrolet Corvette
Second-generation C2 model
Factory-built Coupe
V8 specification
Built at St. Louis, Missouri
Originally finished in Ermine White
Originally supplied with a Saddle interior
Present exterior and interior colours remain consistent with the factory tag

The VIN and body tag are therefore mutually consistent and support the car's identity as an original Ermine White over Saddle 1965 Corvette Stingray C2 Coupe.
